Modern Dining Room Makeover Reveal
Do you hear that sound?
That’s the sound of trumpets sounding announcing the completion of our modern dining room makeover that we completed in, wait for it.. 1 week!!!!
We have never & I mean never worked this quickly in a space, well not that I remember at least
Truthfully we started this makeover while still in the middle of our master bedroom renovation, but we were almost done & waiting on barn door hardware so does that even really count…
So instead of waiting patiently for Amazon Prime I created a modern dining room design board & we got to work!

This dining room really wasn’t terrible when we started, it just wasn’t us.
We have been renovating this farmhouse one room at a time & slowly moving in our furniture once it’s complete. So this room was just plain & lonely.
Paint: Sherwin Williams Alabaster in satin sheen

Our first step was to brighten the space up with some fresh Alabaster paint! The greenish-gray made the space look small & enclosed.

Alabaster is my go to white paint because it’s not blindly white but just enough to look clean & crisp.
Plus the hardwood floors are a little dark so painting the wall a lighter color made the walls look taller.
Another trick we use to make a room look bigger is to change out the light bulbs. I know it sounds simple because, it is but bright white colored bulbs make a big difference for a room.
Stone Accent Wall
Now we are getting to the real design portion of this makeover, a stone accent wall!
I knew I wanted modern elements in this room that would complement my future stone plans for the living rooms fireplace.
We went with Northern Ash stone siding panels from Versetta stone.

This is actually faux stone that is made out of cement & some other amazing stuff that makes it durable & very realistic looking!

This color is Northern Ash & gives the room sophisticated vibes while nicely contrasting the Alabaster walls.
It was super simple to install because it doesn’t require any mortar. J

This wall is definitely a show stopper & will accent the other elements of the room perfectly.
DIY Canvas Art
The side wall is so large & it was definitely underutilized (photo is from listing).

Originally when I was envisioning this space I pictured a big gorgeous canvas print over our buffet table.
So I started looking for the perfect one & I found it but….. the price tag was not in this dining room makeovers budget!

So I had to get a little craft with this gorgeous floral shower curtain & make my own DIY canvas!
The best part is it only cost $20!

You can check out all the steps here, along with some of my other favorite shower curtains that would make beautiful canvas art.
It accents the space perfectly & the large scale of it makes the room feel really grand.
Do you recognize those wooden lanterns?
Yepp those are the ones I made in the “under an hour” challenge & they are still my favorite limited time DIY!

Next, this room desperately needed a new modern chandelier to accent the sleek new accent wall!
This one perfectly fits the space & really brightens up the room.

Sometimes just swapping out the light fixture can completely change

Decor
Once those 3 main improvements were complete, we simply buttoned up the room with some simple decor!

Basically I just rummaged through the boxes in the garage until I found stuff that I liked…
Most everything we own is still in storage but that made decorating this space a fun challenge & I got to get super creative.

That linen coming out of the wooden basket is actually a salon cape Adam used for
Shopping your home is one of my biggest decorating for free tricks!

This rug is a new find from Amazon, but I didn’t feel too bad because
The rest is all furniture we had & you can find all my favorite things here!

I am so in love with this room makeover & could not be happier to have another room in the farmhouse complete!
Now I will get back to the sliding barn doors I promise!
