[…] Week 4- Hanging Up The Hooks […]

Linen Closet Renovation: Week 4
It’s week 4 y’all & I am going, to be honest. When I heard that I had 5 weeks to complete this linen closet renovation I though, “pst I can have that done in 2 weeks tops!” Y’all I was very wrong. It turns out completing a project with an 8-month-old running around is tough stuff. So its week 4 & I am almost done but not quite there!
Erin from Lemons, Lavender, & Laundry started this challenge a couple of years ago (you can read more about that here). Basically, a bunch of very talented bloggers get together to take on renovating a space for $100 or less! We have 1 month to complete the challenge & the hope is to have a swoon-worthy room at the end, all while staying in budget.
This week I found & installed my hooks for the closet. If you follow along with our Instagram stories you know I found some super cute hooks from Hobby Lobby for $3 apiece!
The Plan
My plan is to take a piece of 1×6 pine board to use for the hooks to hang from. I think doing this instead of hanging them directly on the wall looks a lot nicer & you don’t have to worry about hitting a stud.

After measuring the wall where I want the hooks to sit I cut down my pine board to size. Use a level while you are hanging your board. I used my nail gun to nail it into the wall. Use a nail gun to make sure you hit studs so that the board has a stronghold.

After my board was hung up I caulked the small gaps around it & filled in the nail holes. You could paint it a fun accent color but I am going for a clean
Now its time the hang up the hooks! As a general rule I usually hang up hooks in an odd number, but that’s just a preference. Make sure your spacing in-between the hooks is even.
TIP: place a dab of toothpaste on the back of the hook so that you will know exactly where your screw needs to be placed on the wall

Thats it! Adding hooks to the linen closet gave me extra storage options & was the perfect way to utilize this ackward space.

This week I will add all the cute storage I got from Target & Tj Maxx, plus make some cute labels for each bin!

Oh, my goodness! Toothpaste! I cannot believe that I haven’t heard about this before. Definitely gonna give that a try. Love the idea of adding hooks to the linen closet.
Thanks so much! It makes hanging so much easier Tammy!
