Gender-Neutral Nursery Mood Board
CREATE A FUN & WHIMSICAL GENDER-NUETRAL NURSERY USING A PASTEL COLOR PALLET & FUN DESIGN ELEMENTS
Its that time of year y’all, One Room Challenge time! If you have been following along with us on Instagram you know we are in the process of building our dream home on our family acreage. So right now is not an ideal time to makeover a room in our house since we are in the process of selling it. But we couldn’t stand to sit out during our favorite challenge so we are taking on a room in my sister’s house, her nursery!
For those of you who don’t know, the One Room Challenge is a 6 week room renovation challenge hosted by Better Homes & Gardens. Twice a year, some extremely talented bloggers get together to tackle one room & complete an entire renovation in 6 weeks. Its stressful but also a whole lotta fun!
Before we ever participated in the One Room Challenge we did a practice run in our office, then our first real challenge was the laundry room makeover, followed by the nursery & our last challenge was our garage!
Nursery Week 1: Mood Board
As per usual I always start every room makeover with a mood board. It gives life to my vision & helps me to organize my thoughts, textures, colors, & possible furniture options.
Before we get to the mood board let me show y’all what we are working with:

The room is a bit small so everything we do needs to be light & bright. I want to really utilize the space well & create some great functional storage solutions. After all, babies come with a lot of stuff.
The first thing we need to do is to paint the room. Hannah would like the nursery to be a Winnie the Pooh so we are going to go with a pretty pastel color pallet. For the walls, I am thinking Sea Air by Valspar & for the shiplap &
We will also be tearing out the carpet & replacing it with quality laminate flooring. Laminate is a very durable flooring option perfect for homes with kids & dogs.

Every room renovation needs a good closet! We added built-in shelving to Eli’s nursery closet last year & I am so glad we did. So I will be doing something similar in this closet! My favorite faux wallpaper trick might even make an appearance.

This fan came with the house & I think its time for a fun upgrade. We will be DIY-ing most of the decor & making our own mobile to touch on the Winnie the Pooh theme.

This crib is beautiful & the size is perfect for this nursery. I definitely want the changing table to be a fun pop of color for the room & have great storage.
So this is what I am envisioning for the room:

This space is going to be light, bright, & full of sweet touches for baby Luca. This is my first time renovating a space in someone else’s house so I am a bit nervous but also super excited! I can’t wait to get started, will be posting sneak peeks & updates on our Instagram stories so be sure to follow along!
