DIY Budget Savvy Pantry Renovation: Small Pantry Makeover
Transform a Small Builder Grade Pantry With Custom Built-In Shelving and Storage For a Budget-Savvy Price
Well we made it… like barely but we did!
If you have been following along with our little corner of the internet for the past 6 weeks then you know we took on a pantry renovation for this season’s One Room Challenge!
Catch Up Here: Week 1 ~ Week 2 ~ Week 3 ~ Week 4 ~ Week 5
This pantry has been a project I have wanted to tackle ever since we moved in.
It is on the smaller side, but still a walk-in pantry, that originally had builder grade wire shelving and lots of wasted space.
Before:

Hot mess express y’all!
There was a lot of potential though so I got to work.
DIY Budget Savvy Pantry Renovation:
DIY pantry cabinets & shelves
The first thing that needed to be tackled was the DIY pantry cabinets & shelves.

I used MDF because this is the most cost affective solution for built-in looking storage. It took 3 sheets total for the entire build.

Plus 2 gallons of Sherwin Williams Pure White paint, which I used on all the shelving and walls.
Faux Backsplash
After the DIY storage was built I moved onto stenciling a faux backsplash.

This stencil is the French Trellis Bee pattern from Stencil Revolution.
Butcher Block Countertop
Once the stencil backsplash was dry I added in this gorgeous butcher block countertop from Harwood Lumber company!

This Wormy Maple Edge Grain butcher block countertop was customized for this pantry space.
For this space I went with:
- 14″ depth
- 2″ thickness
- 1/8 edge radius detail
- Finished with acrylic polyurethane in flat
- Hand planed

Motion Sensing Light Fixture
One of the last projects I took on in this space was adding a motion detecting light fixture.

This was actually a super simple home improvement project that is also one of my favorite features of the new pantry!

That’s a wrap, the pantry is complete and I am in love with it.
It is so nice to have everything neat and organized.

I may even hide in here sometimes… I mean why not the snacks are already in here 😉
