Does anyone else drool over all these gorgeous wall murals but have absolutely zero artistic ability? Well, you are not alone, welcome to the club, we drink wine here ? No but really I am so impressed with people who can just freehand draw beautiful things, that’s just not me.
So when I found out my sister wanted a hand-painted tree in her nursery I knew I needed to call in backup ASAP! So this week’s One Room Challenge is brought to you by my mom & her amazing talents & me an expert helper. But while she was creating this beautiful tree by hand, completely winging it (watch the whole process on our Instagram stories), it occurred to me that most of us cant do that. But we still deserve a beautiful mural wall too, so I made a list of 7 simple ones that absolutely anyone can create!
For those of you who don’t know, the One Room Challenge is an 8-week room renovation challenge hosted by Better Homes & Gardens. Twice a year, some extremely talented bloggers get together to tackle one room & complete an entire renovation in 8 weeks. It’s stressful but also a whole lotta fun!
BEFORE WE EVER PARTICIPATED IN THE ONE ROOM CHALLENGE WE DID A PRACTICE RUN IN OUR OFFICE, THEN OUR FIRST REAL CHALLENGE WAS THE LAUNDRY ROOM MAKEOVER, FOLLOWED BY THE NURSERY & OUR LAST CHALLENGE WAS OUR GARAGE!
Geometric Sharpie Wall

Easy Painted Birch Trees
Kelly from Nipper’s Nook created this whimsical birch tree wall for her son’s nursery & she did it in 5 easy steps! I never knew painting trees could be so easy.

My sweet friend Rebecca from Hello Central Avenue created this awesome feature wall from decals she made using wax papers! Plus how cool is this Star Wars themed room?!
Geometric Stencil Pattern
Tasha from Rufus & Henrietta is a fellow One Room Challenger & her spaces always turn out insanely good! She created this geometric pattern a couple seasons ago using a stencil & I still cant get over how great it is!
And now onto what we completed this week in my sisters nursery:
Is this not the cutest tree ever?! Y’all I wish I had a tutorial for it but she just freehanded the whole thing. Which is probably no surprise if you saw the 3D one we did in her playroom. I did get to stain the swing seat though so I wasn’t completely useless. We attached it to the ceiling joist using eye bolts so that it would be extra secure. I may or may not have swung on it myself just for testing purposes ?This week we also got the ceiling fan installed & I started on the changing table makeover. You can find that progress in our stories.
