Sometimes the easiest way is the best way.
Especially when it comes to adding lighting where there isn’t any lighting 😉
Did you know there are three types of lighting that every room should have?
Every room should have task, ambient, and accent lighting to meet all the needs of the space.
Ambient lighting is used to light up the room in its entirety, like chandeliers & ceiling mounted fixtures.

Task lighting illuminates the space where a specific action is being carried out like a desk lamp or pendant light.

Accent lighting is used to help the room achieve a certain look and draw focus to specific objects.
The design gurus swear by these three types of lights, but what do you do when your home isn’t set up to add any extra lighting without spending a ton of money on an electrician or busting up walls?
That’s where rechargeable, battery powered, and plug in light fixtures come into play and I have found all the best ones!
Rechargeable Picture Frame Lights

I wanted to add a picture light above our newly built command center but obviously didn’t have a good way to hard wire anything in.

I found this super cute rechargeable light on Amazon for pretty cheap and it is absolutely perfect, especially after I gave it a little Rub N Buff love!
During our hallway makeover I decided I wanted another picture frame light but with a timer function so that it could also act as a night light.

I found this rechargeable picture frame light that has a timer function and brightness settings.
Plug In Wall Sconces
For our breakfast nook makeover I wanted to create a really cozy space that we could relax in. I knew sconce lighting would complete the look but I didn’t want to hire an electrician or tear apart the walls.

So I found these vintage inspired plug in wall sconces and knew they would be perfect.
I also found this wireless light switch so that both of these sconces could be turned on with one light switch.

Rechargeable Light Bulbs

What about if you found the most perfect light fixture but it doesn’t have a plug in or rechargeable option?
No worries there is a DIY hack for that too 😉
When I made that faux lamp I wanted it to be functional but obviously there was no cord and also no outlet in that spot so I snagged these puck lights to do the trick!

If you have an actual lamp that has no outlet near by, you could also use these rechargeable bulbs.
I use these rechargeable light bulbs often, to recharge the bulbs you just stick them into a regular light fixture and they charge while the lights turned on.

For small and mini lamps you will need smaller rechargeable light bulbs though.
When I added this sweet little lamp to cozy up a kitchen corner, I used these smaller rechargeable light bulbs. These light bulbs are really great because they come with a remote to set the brightness and they have three different bulb color options, plus a timer function!
