Build A DIY Silverware Organizer
Build this simple DIY silverware organizer for less than $20 & get all your utensils organized
Do you have a favorite spoon or is that just me…
I like the one that is not too big & it’s edges are a little higher for containing soup better.
Now that you know my weird spoon preference let me tell you living without a silverware organizer for the past month has made it very hard to find my preferred spoon.
That all changes today y’all!

Our kitchen cabinets officially got installed last month after a
We are gonna start with this disaster of a silverware drawer because a girl can only conquer the world when she has the correct spoon 😉
Our new silverware drawer is nice & big but useless if it’s not more organized.

Today we are going to build a super simple DIY silverware organizer that can be customized to any size drawer!
Supplies:
- 1/4″ Poplar Wood
- 1/2″ Poplar Wood
- Wood Glue
- Miter Saw
- Clamps
- Measuring Tape
Tutorial:

First, I use tape to mark how I wanted the organizer to look inside the drawer.
It gave me a visual for how to build the organizer.

Next, I measured what size the outside base of the organizer would be & cut the wood with a miter saw.

Once the 4 outside pieces were cut, I glued the edges together, leveled & clamped them while they dried.

Now it’s time to cut the slats for the different compartments.
I also cut 2 pieces of scrap wood to use as spacers so that the slats would all be the same width.
Spacers are a must when you are using the same measurements, they keep the entire project accurate!
Once the base of the drawer was dry I started inserting the center slats & used my spacers for distance.
Then I attached them using wood glue & secured them with clamps.

For the silverware slats I used my jigsaw to make a curved cut out it the center.
This is so it will be easier to grab out the silverware & makes it look even more custom!

The cuts were not all perfect so I did do a little sanding to make the grooves a bit smoother.

For the silverware slots I attached them using spacers to mark the distance & wood glue.

How much more pleasing is this drawer now y’all?!

My organizational heart is now happy & my favorite spoons are easily spotted!
Such a simple but necessary DIY & it was much cheaper than buying a pre-made one that wouldn’t fit my space exactly.
