Walk-In Closet Renovation: Design Ideas
It’s time y’all!
Time to get this master bedroom closet designed & built.
If you have been following along with our farmhouse renovation, you know that we recently bought our forever home & have been gutting & renovating one room at a time!
The master bedroom got an extreme makeover where we took down the wall that was the original closet space.
Removing that wall really opened up the space & gave us the perfect sitting/office area!

Now we just had to figure out a new closet space…
We decided to use what might have been an office at the front of the house because you can access it from our master bathroom! Well, you can once we break through the wall, but that’s not the point!
Let’s take a look at what we are working with:

The room is on the smaller size for a bedroom but it does have a closet.
The first projects will be to removed the popcorn ceiling, rip out the carpet, & make the closet wall a half wall instead.

Thi
I have been scouring Pinterest looking for ideas for the perfect closet & I have decided on a combination of hanging spaces, drawers, & shelves.
Here are some of the design elements I have planned for the space:

Paint Colors:
The built-in’s will be painted my favorite white, SW Alabaster
For the ceiling I want to add a fun pop of color & tie the closet in with master bedroom, so I will be using Gray Owl.
Flooring:
I found this gorgeous LVP at home depot that looks just like marble & is water proof!

It[‘s called Salt Throne Marble & will be a million times easier to install than actual tile.
Hardware:
I am thinking gold accents for our closet!
These handles are perfect for the diy drawers I plan on building.
Plus they will pair nicely with the gold closet rods I found!
Lighting:
Truthfully I already bought the chandelier for this space from Wayfair… before we even moved into the house.
I fell in love with this light & knew I would find the perfect spot for it somewhere!

The Design Plans:
As far as the building portion of the built-ins goes I have been working on drawing out exactly what I want:

This will be the main back wall that used to have the door for the entrance to this space.
I am thinking this will be the main hanging wall with drawers in the middle to hold socks, delicates, & accessories!

The back wall has a large window which I will trim with pine wood & paint the same color as the ceiling.
Shoe shelving will be on both sides, with a large area for tall boots on the bottom.

The wall with our new door opening will be for more short hanging items & one section for long hanging items.
Trim around the door will also be Gray Owl to add some dimension to the room!

This is the wall that the laundry room will be visible from.
One more hanging area with drawers below will be on this wall.
The half wall will have open shelving for purses, hats, etc!
I have no idea how I want the laundry room to look, but it will need to compliment the closet design since it will be visible.
Because there aren’t enough projects to complete in this room I would also like to add an island…

Something like this maybe in a smaller version, what do y’all think? Pro island or no island let me know!
This project is gonna be a big one but we will take it one project at a time!
