Room Renovation: Office Week 2
Update! Week1/ Week2/Week3/Week4/Week5/Week6 Reveal!
Its week two of our office renovation project & things are in full swing! You can see week 1 here if you missed it, but it was mainly filled with a lot of planning & shopping (I know poor me… or really poorJustin’ss wallet) plus my inspiration board for the office. This week we got a bit done in the office itself!
The Baseboard Bit the Dust
I removed the trim along the back wall & 11 inches of trim on the two side walls. I did this so that when the bookcases are built, we can slide them all the way to the back of the wall & use the trim that was there, for the front of the bookcases. This was a process, & I will show you the easiest way to accomplish removing the base molding in another post. Heres a sneak peak of that process:
Painting Party of 1
I also painted the room this week! We chose Perfect Greige from Sherwin Williams for the 3 walls. I took a piece of the molding into Lowes to have them color match that color for the bookcases, bench, the wall they will sit on, & the molding around the windows.
Window Love
The window got a little love in the form of trim. I made one error when putting up the trim & that was not realizing the bookcase width would need to be measured from the longest piece of window trim. Luckily, I only have the blueprints (some scribbling in a notebook of something that resembles a possible bookcase & bench) drawn for the bookcases & no material actually bought yet! The measurements were only off an inch, but that would have caused a headache if I didn’t realize it before I bought & cut all the boards. Whew, that was a close one! Heres a the window so far, all that’s left is to fill the nail holes & paint:
This super simple & basic plan for the window trim came from Lauren at Blesser House! It’s also similar to the window trim plan I used for my fancy kitchen window trim project! This trim project was even easier than that one!!
DIY Canvas Art
The last thing I finished this week was the DIY Canvas Art project! That was a lot of fun & super simple to do, plus it saved me quite a bit of money which I for one, am a BIG fan of. I made 4 canvases total for $8! I even had to redo 1 that I didn’t quite love, but that’s the best part about DIY, trying new things to see what suits you best. I’ll save those photos for a little later & tell you all about how to make them for yourself!
It was a very busy week two, but I’m excited to start week 3 because that is when the bookcase-bench-building-palooza happens!
Heres the To Do List so far:
- Built-in bookcases & bench around the windows
