WARNING terrible twos are ahead y’all 😅
Not really… twos can be absolutely terrific & so can their birthday theme!
For Eli’s second birthday it seemed only fitting to take on the rough & tough construction theme since he is literally in the rough & tough phase…
Y’all pray for us…
But in light of what’s ahead this party went smoothy & the theme was perfect!
In case you wanted to throw your own construction themed birthday party, I thought I would share some of my favorite things from his!
Let me start by saying: DO NOT throw any kind of party without buying one of these! The best $20 I have EVER spent!
Construction Themed Birthday Party
This was the easiest party ever as far as decorations go!
I found a ton of amazing backdrops, favors, & signs on Amazon.

I bought a few of these old empty barrels on FB Marketplace, they were perfect for displaying all our sweet little favors.
For favors each kid got a safety vest, hard hat, & a cute little caution bag!
I also found these plastic blow up hammers that the kids fell in love with.
A roll of this caution tape served as decor, a backdrop, & I used it to tie utensils together.

Most of the other props & decoration were DIY-ed.
I made this road block prop out of scrap 1x4s & some orange paint.
The wall crane was made with leftover Amazon boxes, orange paint, & black balloons.
The smaller signs came in a pack that I bought online.

I also made this tall crane out of cardboard boxes & a Jolly balls.
Then I wrapped a bunch of smaller boxes to act as the “bricks.”

We also made a makeshift sandbox for the kids to dig into.
I bought this set of plastic tools, mini construction trucks & also some kid side size shovels online.
To make the actual sandbox, we used some scrap 1x4s for the base & lined it with a plastic tarp.

I found this amazing crane bounce house for rent from a local company.
We borrowed those road signs, cone & road block from a friend, they really made the scene in the backyard come to life.

It’s not a party without cake!
Our cake stand is another barrel & the backdrop is just a simple tablecloth.
My mom made dirt pudding cups & I found these super cute shovel spoons to stick into them!
The ballon arch was another online find that was super simple to put together!
Other Favorite Construction Theme Ideas
I didn’t get photos of everything because I am a horrible blogger on party days 😅

These are the plastic construction hats I used flipped over to serve chips & food out of.

This 4 pack of dump truck balloons did not disappoint & they were much bigger than I thought they would be.

How cool is this construction backdrop?!
I bought the 7×5′ version & it looked amazing on the wall!

This is the backdrop & ballon arch combo set I used for above the fireplace.

These are the little construction sign picks I placed in cupcakes, dirt cups, & any other food item that they looked cute in.
