Budget Savvy Bathroom Renovation Design Ideas
It’s time yall! Time for the $100 room challenge & I am pumped up! I have been looking forward to being able to participate in this amazing challenge again this season.
Erin from Lemons, Lavender, & Laundry started this challenge a couple of years ago (you can read more about that here). Basically, a bunch of very talented bloggers get together to take on renovating a space for $100 or less! We have 1 month to complete the challenge & the hope is to have a swoon-worthy room at the end, all while staying in budget.
This season I am dying to take on our master bathroom. It is one of the few rooms in our home that we havent touched… like at all. It’s super boring in here yall! The walls have not been painted & everything in it is from when we bought it. It’s time to make it into a space that I love on a budget that Justin loves!
It may seem like a big task to take on an entire bathroom renovation for $100 but I have some great ideas for making it as buget savvy as possible.
First lets take a look at what we are working with:
I told you…boring. But it has a lot of potential!

For this bathroom design makeover, I am doing a skinny board and batten. I chose this because I believe I can do the entire bathroom renovation using 1 piece of MDF. Plus the tall skinny board and bat will make the ceilings look taller & really open up the darkroom. This will be the third room in our home getting a batten and board treatment, we started in the half bathroom & then did Eli’s nursery. Clearly, we are huge board and batten fans yall!

The vanity is where things get tricky. I just can’t decide if I want to go dark or light! The dark cabinets & gold hardware are definitely my love language but Justin is not convinced. He likes black hardware better. Either way, we can transform the hardware & cabinet with a little leftover paint so that won’t count towards the tiny budget at least.

The lighting is in good condition but I definitely want to change the color to match the hardware. Also replacing the globes with some chunkier clear ones will be a cheap fix that will have a big impact.

Currently, the mirrors are just plain unframed builder grade ones that I would love to replace but there is no way I could stay under budget & get the mirrors I really want so for now the plan is to frame them in with a black frame.

Another project I will be taking on is some DIY shelving. I think I can make a similar one out of PVC to save on the cost. If not some floating wood shelves are easy & budget-savvy!
Now I just need to get it all done in one month… no pressure ? Check out all the other extremely talented bloggers taking part in the $100 room challenge & let know what you think of our bathroom design board!
I’m loving the gold and black inspiration!
Thanks Tracy, I can’t wait to see it come together!
That is a hard call on the cabinets, light always makes a space look bigger but I love the dramatic bold dark colors this season. Can’t wait to see what you decided!
Me too Jenron, bold & dark is speaking to me!
Wow! I can’t wait to see it all. It’s going to look amazing!
Thanks Wendy, I cant wait to get started!
Sounds like a good plan. I like the look of gold- but black is classic too. Either way can’t go wrong. Looking forward to seeing your complete project
I know I am so torn Jackie!
I LOVE your design plans. I agree, those inspiration mirrors are so amazing. I can’t wait to see what you do in this bathroom!
Thanks so much Joy, I can’t wait to get started!
I am doing our master bath for this challenge as well, so I can’t wait to see what you do! I won’t be able to do everything I want to do with this budget, but I thought this would be a great way to get a really good jump start.
OH I need to go check out your room too then! I am so excited, I would love to buy new mirrors but for the challenge I will have to settle on framing them.
Gorgeous choices, can’t wait to see the reveal
Thanks so much Maria!
Love the inspiration items. It’s going to look so elegant with the gold and black. Can’t wait to see it finished.
Thank you! I am so excited to have this makeover complete!
