How To Create a Custom Looking Kitchen: Mixing Hardware Styles
Create a custom looking kitchen by mix & matching different types of cabinet hardware styles
Whenever I ask people which room would be first on their renovation/makeover list, they always say the kitchen.
Kitchens are the heart of the home so naturally you want it to fit your family & your style.
Completely gutting a kitchen can be very very very pricey, but there are so many ways to update your kitchen to look more custom without the hefty price tag!
One of my favorite ways to completely change the look of a kitchen is to swap out the cabinet hardware.
Swapping out the hardware is pretty easy & can be done on any budget!
Here are my favorite kitchen hardware ideas:

1. Mix Cup Pulls & Bar Pulls

This is my favorite way to make a kitchen look & feel custom!
Mixing cabinet cup pulls & bar pulls throughout the kitchen’s drawers is a great place to start.
For our kitchen we added two Meadow Cup style pulls per long drawer.
The detail on them is absolutely gorgeous & they fit nicely into the drawer inset.
We added the 4″ Carre Bar pulls on the large pull out drawers beneath.

The two styles balance each other out by combining an antique classic look with a little modern style.
Can I tell you a secret?

These were originally supposed to come as pull out drawers but instead got put in as regular cabinets…
So we had to build the drawer part ourselves which is fine because I was able to build a baking sheet organizer inside too!
2. Add Catch Latches (say that 3 times fast 😉)

My favorite part of this entire kitchen are these Brass Flush Catches!
They add so much character & make the sink cabinet doors feel extra special.
We also added them to the cabinets above the refrigerator because they deserved a little something special too!
3. Swap Out Boring Knobs

Swap plain cabinet knobs for ones with detail!
These Victorian cabinet knobs have the most beautiful vintage embellishments that completely elevate the kitchen.

I love their unique shape, it makes the hardware feel completely custom.
We went with a classic rosette to accent the knobs.

4. Mix Hardware Finishes

Mixing finishes is becoming very popular & for good reason!
Not everything in your kitchen needs to have the same finish.
Cabinet hardware can be different finishes, so can the light fixtures, & faucets.
The contrast our black pendants create with our satin brass cabinet hardware gives the kitchen so much more charm.

I am in deep love with our new kitchen hardware from Nostalgic Warehouse.

The quality is amazing & they made our store bought cabinets look custom!
Let me know what you think of our new kitchen hardware & stay tuned for the next phase of our kitchen makeover, adding the stove backsplash (& hopefully the stove itself too 😉)!
