It’s almost time y’all…
Almost time for my favorite holiday, Valentine’s Day!
I usually get lots of judgment when I tell people it’s my favorite holiday but that does not stop me from sprinkling a little love around everywhere.
Valentine’s Day decor usually falls into two categories though: Cheesy or Classic
I usually like to stick with more classic decor but if cheesy is your thing, go for it!
This year I really wanted to add some vintage Valentines art around the house, so I teamed up with WORKPRO Tools to create some super simple DIY wooden frames.
These are perfect for displaying artwork or photos and are very budget friendly to make!
Easy DIY Frames

Supplies:
- Plain Canvases or Thin Wood Boards
- 1×2 Pine Boards
- Adhesive
- WORKPRO® Pneumatic Nail Gun
- WORKPRO® Clamps
- Staple Gun
- WORKPRO® Detail Sander
- Printable Art or Photograph
Making the Wood Frames
For my frames I decided to use blank canvases as the base but you could also use plywood sheets cut to your print size.

Whichever base you decide, measure the sides to get your frame measurements.

I cut (4) 1x2s to the size I measured making sure to add 2″ to the two short side pieces.

Once I had those cut I sanded them with my new detail sander to remove the yellow undertones and smooth all the edges.

Next, stain or paint the frame pieces and set them aside to dry.
Preparing the Art
For these frames I am using these vintage prints I had printed at CVS.
Printable art is one of my favorite budget friendly home decor ideas because they add character and if you print them at home they are FREE!
You can find these prints and other vintage valentines art in our Free Printable VIP Gallery

To attach the art to the canvas I used a spray adhesive, this will work on wood boards also!

Because I really wanted these to look like real canvas paintings I coated the prints in Mod Podge.
The Mod Podge will dry clear and give the print the textured look of a real painting!
Attaching the Frame & Base
After the frame pieces and print dries you can start attaching them together.

Use clamps to secure the frame pieces to the sides of the canvas.
To attach the frame pieces together I used finishing nails at each of the ends.

Next, secure the canvas to the frame using staples.
Adding Fancy Trim Pieces (optional)

For one of the frames I decided I wanted to add a little extra fancy trim detail around the edges.

I cut (4) pieces of trim the size of the frame and mitered the ends, then I attached them to the frame with wood glue, and secured them with clamps.

After the glue dried I coated the trim and frame with a little gold paint to give it an antique look.

Once the frames were complete I leveled them and attached them to the wall with picture frame velcro.
