Easy DIY Clay Ornaments The No Bake Way
Make these simple and budget friendly stamped clay ornaments to add character to any Christmas tree
We are officially feeling all the holly jolly-ness over at the Southern Yankee DIY house y’all!
The Alabama temperature has finally dropped and it feels like winter is coming.
So today felt like the perfect day to whip up some handmade clay ornaments!
I found this set at Target from the Studio Mcgee line and feel in love.
So I thought I would try to DIY my own version for a quarter of the cost, plus making them myself adds a little sentimental value.

Make Beautiful Stamped Clay Ornaments Without Baking

Supplies:
Greenery/Stamps/etc
Ribbon
Creating The Ornament Shape

Start by rolling out the clay using a rolling pin placed on top of two glue sticks.
The purpose of the glue sticks is to keep the ornaments thickness consistent, you could use anything glue sticks just worked best for me.

Once the dough was the right thickness I used a plastic cup to cut out a circle.
You could also use some fun Christmas cookie cutters to get a different shape!

Some of the edges weren’t perfect so I simply sculpted them a bit with my fingers.
Stamping The Clay Ornament

Now that I have the shape I want, I used this faux greenery to imprint the branch pieces onto the ornament.
The clay is a little hard so you will have to firmly press over the greenery.
You could also use other types of florals and greenery or letter stamps.

Next I used wire to make a hole for ribbon to slide through.
Eventually I switched to making my holes using a plastic straw so they were just a bit bigger for thicker ribbon.
Adding Color To the Clay Ornaments

I let the ornaments dry overnight before deciding they needed an extra little something…
The stamp didn’t feel accentuated enough so I lightly brushed Rub n Buff over it.
It was just what I needed too really make the imprint pop!
