DIY Wedding Ideas That Don’t Look Cheap
Here are the best wedding DIY’s that will wow your guests without emptying your pockets
Wedding season is upon us y’all!
Actually I have no idea when wedding season is because is it ever not the season for love?
Regardless, we just got back the professional photos from our wedding & I am absolutely swooning over them.
(If you are located in the state of Alabama I highly highly recommend Miranda Beason Photography)
Every aspect of our wedding felt like a fairytale, I know that sounds mushy & makes me gross but I just don’t care.

I think my favorite part of our wedding though was that we basically DIY-ed the entire thing…
I know you’re not shocked 😉
& as much as we love DIY, the things we built/made for this wedding
So here are all the ways we saved a ton of money by going the DIY route without sacrificing quality & ascetics!

DIY Wedding Ideas That Don’t Look Cheap:

Make Your Own Bouquets

Using artificial flowers & greenery saved us a ton of money & now I get to keep my bouquet as a memento forever! We used Ling
Another big bonus of DIY bouquets is that you can meaningful extras to them. My mom used bible pages as a filler for one of our bouquets & it was so special & sweet.
Buy Plain Invitations & Customize

Invitations are expensive y’all! A big portion of a wedding budget is spent on save the dates, invites, & thank you cards. That’s not even including the postage for each of these items!
We saved literally hundreds of dollars by ordering plainer invitations from Zazzle (these ones specifically) & then adding a wax stamp to jazz them up!
I bought a wax stamp with our initial & sweet little design off of Amazon & some wax that fit our color scheme.
It was super simple to do: heat the wax in the spoon provided, once melted pour a quarter size amount on the envelope seal, place stamp, let it dry, remove the stamp & voila!
We did upgrade to these envelopes that had our return address printed on the back all fancy, but this was a very small upgrade & well worth it!
You could also add your own lace or ribbon to wrap the invitation in to make it a little fancier without spending all that money to have someone else do the same thing for double the cost.
Put Together Groomsmen/Ring Bear Outfits Yourself

Have you seen the price it costs to rent a tux?!
To rent even a decent tux it would have been $250 per guy & then it would have all been returned in a day.
Instead I scoured Amazon & put together our own look that that only cost $95 & they got to keep them!
Pants $34
Shirt $27
Suspenders $27
Bow Tie $7

For the ring bear’s outfits I went with these adorable sets from Amazon!
For $25 it came with shorts, shirt, bowtie, & suspenders & they were surprisingly good quality.

Even my wedding shoes are from Amazon!
They were so budget friendly & my sister wore the same style for her wedding so it made these extra special.
Go With Bar Style Food Options
Food is one of the most expensive wedding costs & eats up a budget quickly.
To eliminate the need for individual plates & hiring a caterer we went with a pizza bar!

This was so much cheaper & looked really cool!
Everyone absolutely loved it & we paired it with salad & breadsticks.

To elevate the look we made DIY wooden boards for the pizza to sit on.
We used the square & round craft boards from Lowes & attached different styles of legs & finials to them.

We built our cake stand using the same method!
DIY Flower Cart
For our wedding favors
We made this super cute DIY flower cart to display them on & it doubled as decor.

For future parties & invents I think it would be an adorable sweet table!

Set Up A Keg Bar
We built this cool wooden keg beer bar for our guests to shelf serve at the wedding.
Buying a keg was cheaper than purchasing cases but they aren’t the prettiest thing in the world so this build solved that problem & now we have a cool bar perfect for tailgate season!

DIY Outdoor Lanterns
Lanterns & candles add a sweet whimsical feel to any wedding & event & they are so simple to make.
Plus you can customize them to be super fancy or more simple depending on your style!

We used them around our tables & dance floor but they would also be beautiful running up the aisle.

Build Long Wooden Dinning Tables & Benches For Seating
When we were getting quotes for tables we were shocked to find out a wooden 6′ table was $150 to rent per day!
That wasn’t even including seating & we would need a bunch since they were only 6′ long.
Instead we decided to build our own & it only cost us $98 per table & $36 per bench!

We placed them in a U shape & they really created the outdoor enchanted garden wedding theme we were going for!
They were so simple to build & knocked out 10 tables & 20 benches in about 2 weeks!
After the wedding we sold some of the tables, kept a set for us, & gave them to our immediate family as a sweet memento to remember our special day!

Create A Whiskey & Cigar Bar
Instead of having a bunch of different kinds of liquor at the wedding we went with a whiskey & cigar bar!
We refinished old spindles we bought on Facebook Marketplace to be the stand.

This bar was a huge hit & alleviate the need for bartenders & a bunch of mixers/juices.
Plus everyone really loved the combination of cigars & whiskey.
It felt very classy & swanky!

You can find whiskey decanters for a good price at TJ Max.
Mixing & matching styles & shapes made the bar have an eclectic feel.

Repurpose Thrift Store Furniture
Thrift stores & Facebook market place are perfect for finding older furniture to use as props or extra seating for your big day!
Even if they are in rough shape they can be recovered & painted to fit in your color scheme!

We snagged this couch up for $25 & covered it with some rich green & patterned fabrics.
It was perfect for photo ops & added to posh garden vibe.
