DIY Valentine Tea Towels

DIY Valentine Tea Towels

MAKE THESE FUN & EASY DIY VALENTINE TEA TOWELS TO DRESS UP YOUR KITCHEN FOR VALENTINES DAY OR MAKE THEM AS A GREAT HOSTESS GIFT

Yall this may seem cheesy but I absolutely love Valentines day! I love the colors & the chocolate & also I’m just a big ole cheese ball so this holiday was made for me. When I was a kid my mom always decorated the house up big for Valentines day & its a memory I will always cherish & I would like for Eli to have that same memory too.

So to kick off this years Valentines décor I made some simple budget savvy tea towels! This project was so simple & these would make an amazing hostess gift if you paired it with some sweet heart cookies or a bottle of wine!

First, measure the length & width of the tea towel so that you can figure out what size you want your lettering to be.

I used my Cricut machine to cut out the vinyl for the tea towels. I chose to use glossy black & sparkly red vinyl I got from Michaels. If you don’t have a Cricut machine I highly recommend one or you could also use stencils & fabric paint.

If you do use vinyl don’t forget to select the mirror option on the Cricut so that the iron-on vinyl will turn out right side up. This is the only time I ever use my iron honestly so I am not great with it… But I like to start by ironing out the tea towels so they are nice & crisp. Then I add my vinyl & hold the iron on for 30 seconds apiece.

To add a little extra sweetness to the tea towels I added in some ribbon to the bottom. Simply cut small slots on the bottom of the towel, then run the ribbon through them. When the ribbon got to the center of the towel where my vinyl is I tied a small bow.

I accidently bought some fabric Mod Podge when I was making my Christmas Santa plates last month & it actually came in handy for this DIY! I used it on the back of the tea towel to glue my ribbon in place & also to glue the frays from the slot cuts.

  1. Your Valentine’s Day Tea Towels turned out so cute, and I love that they can be personalized. It’s simply amazing what you can do with a Cricut.

  2. These towels are so cute, Lia! I would use them as dish towels in the kitchen. I love how there are so many ways to personalize plain tea towels!
