Small Outdoor Patio Ideas + Our Patio Makeover Reveal
THESE SIMPLE OUTDOOR PROJECTS WILL HELP YOU TO CREATE THE PATIO OF YOUR DREAMS ON A DIY BUDGET
It’s that time y’all! Outdoor patio reveal day & I am so excited I could wet my plants (I can’t help myself ?). This makeover might just be my favorite one yet! The patio is made up of a whole bunch of different types of DIY projects & I think that’s why I loved it so much. It was challenging to find budget savvy solutions for things that I really wanted & honestly y’all I feel like we nailed it!
Can you believe that this patio wasn’t even really on our 2020 home project to-do list? The inspiration really stemmed from our DIY $15 outdoor planters & just kinda spiraled into a longing for a cozy outdoor oasis! But when you have a teeny tiny budget you have to get creative.
Let’s take a peek at what we were working with:
Besides the adorable pup, it was pretty blah. The patio stored our grill, random coolers, & plastic chairs. It was builder grade basic but I had a dream of a space that would be perfect for outdoor dinners at sunset, a cozy place to have a morning coffee & watch Eli play in the yard. So like I do with every project, I created a design board filled with my hopes & dreams for
Wanna see if we got close? Of course you do thats why you’re here!
I mean so much better right?!
The first project I took on in the quest for a beautiful outdoor patio was transforming this bench that someone left on the side of the road! Did you see how it looked before? It got completely revamped with new paint, a no-sew outdoor cushion, & new finals because the old ones were a little chewed ?
Once the bench was taken care of I moved onto some DIY budget savvy lanterns. Can you believe this pair only cost me $3 & 1 hour to make?! They were the perfect nap time DIY & look just like the ones from Target I desperately wanted but couldn’t quite afford.
They look even better at sunset with my favorite flameless candles glow.
The biggest project of this outdoor patio makeover was definitely this DIY outdoor dining table & bench! Outdoor furniture is expensive yall & a new table & bench were not in the budget so we had to endure the heat & build it ourselves. And we did for $150 & two days!
If you follow along with us on Instagram you know It took me longer to pick stain color than it did to build the table. I went against popular opinion & chose Pecan, probably my favorite design decision of the project!
This patio makeover also had its share of fails & that’s okay because that’s just how the concrete crumbles sometimes ? Crumble is literally what our first attempt at a DIY concrete planter box did, but we nailed it our second try & learned a lot along the way.
Can you spot the project made completely out of scrap wood? Yep, my hanging wall planter! Isn’t she beautiful?
One thing I know for sure & its that this wall planter definitely doesn’t
Honestly I just cant believe its finished! This little outdoor patio feels like a vacation but costs way way way less! The hot days were definitely worth it & I cant wait to host family dinners & have date night ins on this cozy patio.
