Make your Christmas presents look extra special with these easy vintage gift wrap ideas

Of all the Christmas time “to do” list items wrapping presents is by far my favorite.

Don’t get me wrong, I love decorating the Christmas tree and setting a beautiful table, but wrapping Christmas presents is my jam.

It’s so relaxing to put E to bed, clear off the coffee table, binge something on Netflix, and mindlessly wrap gifts after a long day. Throw in a glass of wine and you officially have my perfect evening.

If you have been following along as we decorate for Christmas this year you know I have been really leaning into the vintage vibes.

(really if you saw our latest half bathroom remodel you know we have gone full blown vintage over here)

So naturally our Christmas gift wrap had to follow suite!

This year I really wanted to make the Christmas gift wrap pop especially since we got this stunning new Noble Fir tree I have had my eye on f-o-r-e-v-e-r.

My favorite part about going with a more vintage vibe this year is that everything isn’t so matchy matchy.

I mixed gift wrap patterns, ribbon, and even added a really sweet detail to some of the gifts that I can’t wait to share with you!

Here is everything I am using for this years vintage gift wrap:

Plaid Gift Wrap Paper

Black Gift Wrap Paper

Ivory Wrapping Paper

James Jeffers Nutcracker Wrapping Paper

Rust Satin Thin Ribbon

Wide Copper Ribbon

Greenery From The Yard (here is a faux version though)

Kraft Paper Tags

Gold Sealing Wax

Wax Seal Stamp

Twine

I know that seems like a lot of things just to wrap presents but I actually had most of it from either our wedding or past gift wrappings.

As soon as I saw the James Jeffers Nutcracker wrapping paper I was smitten.

It’s so charming and already tied in with my rust and gold tree colors.

It also paired perfectly with the black and ivory wrapping paper I already had.

Mixing a print with solids is a great way to add interest without being too overwhelming.

I also added the plaid gift wrapping paper to the mix because I wanted at-least one more pattern.

For the ribbon I used the same wide copper ribbon that I tied my stair garland with.

This is the nicest ribbon I have ever touched and the color looks very rich, which is surprising because it was an Amazon budget find.

To mix in an eclectic look I also used this thin rust colored ribbon which went with all the gift wrap perfectly.

I also used some leftover twine I had for the larger packages because I wasn’t willing to part with that much regular ribbon… if you know you know.

When I was going through my old craft supplies I also found these Kraft paper tags.

I always keep these handy because they can be used for so many things and look really cute on mason jar gifts. Like this homemade gingerbread cookie and tea towel set!

For these Christmas gifts I removed the twine that they came with and used the different ribbons instead.

That kept the tags in theme with the more vintage vibe.

It would also be super cute to make gift tags out of the material I made the stamped clay ornaments out of but I felt like I had enough going already.

I will be honest with y’all I’m not a super fancy gift wrapper normally…

Usually I leave it at some beautiful wrapping paper and ribbon but this year I feel a little “extra” in the Christmas spirit department.

So I dug out our wax seal stamp and gold sealing wax we used for our wedding invitations.

This was such a pretty way to say who the gift was from instead of my standard “The Watsons.”

I used it on the gift tags and also to seal the twin on some of the presents.

On some of the gifts I also added a small cedar sprig I forged from the outside. (here is a super cute faux version)

That gave those presents the little extra oomph they were missing.

I am super happy with how all the presents look so far and wrapping them honestly feels like creative therapy.

They all feel so elegant and add the extra touch of vintage style I was hoping for.

I know a lot of people are in the stick it in a bag and call it good camp (sometimes I attend that camp too) but this year I really wanted to make these presents extra special.

  1. Additionally, the thought and effort put into the wrapping can often be as appreciated as the gift itself. It conveys a message of thoughtfulness and shows the recipient that they are valued, making the overall gifting experience more memorable.
