Create A Beautiful & Cozy Fall Table Using Apples & This Easy Recipe For Donuts
Y’all, fall is in the air over here at the Southern Yankee DIY house, or maybe that’s the smell of air fryer homemade donuts, regardless it’s delightful!
If you are new to our little corner of the web let me start by saying welcome, we are so thrilled you are here!
If you are not new here you know that we live in Alabama so not only is the scent of homemade donuts in the air but also a whole lot humidity & 90-degree heat.
That won’t stop my fall loving heart from brainstorming fall decor ideas for our table… & every other room of our house.
This year we teamed up with a bunch of incredible bloggers to take y’all on an amazing fall home tour! I am going to link them all at the end, so be sure to check them all out for more ideas for fall decor! For now, come see what we came up with for our fall table!

Fall Table Decoration Ideas

Even though it’s still pretty darn hot I decided to start with setting a fall table on our newly renovated patio.
It is such a cozy space & I have been dreaming about hosting cozy Autumn dinner parties out here since we built that outdoor table!
Our $8 DIY porch screen curtains make eating out here a reality because not only are they pretty to look at, they also keep those pesky flies & mosquitoes away.

Whenever I am coming up with ideas for fall decorations I have one goal: Spend as little money as possible.
Seasonal decor can get pretty pricey & I just can’t spend a bunch of money on things that are only up for a month or two.
Shopping Your Home For Fall Table Decor

This little trick is one I use for all of my seasonal decorating.
No need to buy a brand new tablecloth when you have a super cute blanket scarf hanging in your closet. There are probably a lot of ideas for fall table decorations in there!

Nothing is cozier than having a light quilt to pull onto your lap once that fall breeze makes an appearance.
This one just got relocated from our bedroom to make room for our fall quilt, I think it looks pretty great in its new landing place though.

I used to read constantly but now my book genera consists more of Dr Seuss & The Berenstain Bears… I keep all of my old hardcover books though for exactly this reason.
They are perfect for
Fall Table Setting Ideas

Y’all I am a huge fan of reusing our simple white dish set for holidays & parties, but I am also known for using white Dollar Tree plates.
Yepp it’s my little secret weapon for when we have large gatherings or if we are eating outdoors.

This way if an accident does happen, no one is upset over a $1 dish getting cracked into a million tiny pieces. White is so timeless & can be dressed up or down & accented for the different seasons.
Fall Decor DIY

After I shop my home & gather the majority of what I need to bring my fall table decorating ideas to life, I figure out what I can DIY & make.
I desperately wanted these chargers from Pottery Barn but that just wasn’t in the budget so DIY-ed my own set using Dollar Tree chargers & a sponge.
There is actually a lot of fall decor at the Dollar Tree, sometimes you just need a little imagination to bring it to the next level.
Those napkin rings were just the cheap plastic ones that I spray painted to fit into my Autumn decor theme.

These fall pumpkin decor candles are another simple fall decor DIY that was inspired by these Pottery Barn ones!
I just used a silicone pumpkin mold to make them. I will put together the complete tutorial soon!
Fall Centerpiece Ideas

When I am coming up with fall decor ideas for the outside, I always try & think of what is naturally in season.
Apples are our jam lately because Eli loves to gnaw on them when they are cold. He is currently going through the terrible teething phase.
Plus their vibrant colors make them the perfect addition to a fall table.
These easy homemade donuts compliment the apples perfectly & make for a delicious after-dinner dessert.
If you are a follower of Southern Yankee DIY you know I can’t cook my way out of a cereal box. My mom taught me this air fryer donuts recipe that literally anyone can make!
Air Fryer Donut Recipe

Ingredients & Equiptment:
- Pillsbury Grand Biscuits
- (1) Tbs Cinnamon Sugar
- (2) Brown Sugar
- (1) Cup Melted Butter or Cream Cheese
- Air Fryer
- Small Cookie Cutter

- The first step is to line your air fryer with foil, we do this most of the time when we use it because we don’t want the cooking spray to ruin the basket.
2. Next, mix together the brown & cinnamon sugar in a bowl & set aside

3. Then, layout the Pillsbury Grand Donuts & use a small cookie cutter to take out the center hole.
Tip: Keeps the donut holes & cook them the same way for more deliciousness!

4. Now that the donuts are ready, spray the foil from step 1 with cooking oil & place the donuts in the air fryer.

5. Bake them at 350 degrees for about 3 minutes on each side.

6. Once they are golden brown take them out of the air fryer & brush on the melted butter or softened cream cheese.

7. Then simply cover them with the brown & cinnamon sugar mixture.
That’s it y’all, a simple air fryer donut recipe that literally anyone can make! Serve them warm & you could even pair them with fresh apple slices from your fall table!

WE live in Michigan, so we have a tradition every September we take a family photo at an orchard, then pick apples, then get fresh fried donuts. Oh my goodness…it’s the best day ever. We won’t be able to do it this year, but will make donuts at home. If I decide not to fry them, now I have a bad-up plan! Thank you!
