Fall Home Tour Part 1
Y’all the weather in Alabama may still be in the 90s but in the Southern Yankee DIY house its fall! This is my favorite season, I love pumpkin spice, fall leaves, and football season (Roll Tide)! Plus at some point, I know that the cool fall breeze is coming to give us a break from this heat. Until then I will crank up the AC, get cozy on the couch, & continue ordering fall decor off of Amazon (here are my favorite items this year). I was able to complete the majority of the house by painting last years decor, dollar store hopping, & shopping our homes normal decor. The things I did buy came mainly from Amazon, Michaels(I know yall got a coupon :)), and TJ Maxx.
If this is your first time joining us, welcome! If you like budget-friendly & DIY decor you came to the right place. Well, let’s get started, yall come on in!

I kept the entry table clean & simple this year. I added some greenery & a little glass pumpkin I painted to the display.
Off the entryway is our “parlor room”. This basically means a room I let Justin put a bar in, I don’t exactly remember how I was bribed into this but between us I actually love it! Its connected to our dining room so its a great space for setting up the drinks for parties! I will be adding to the wall behind the bar, possibly a full wall of batten board, since I am in love love love with how our 1/2 bathroom remodel turned out!
Yall know I’m a big fan of chalkboard signs. They are great for decorating for every season & occasion! Right off our parlor room is our formal dining room. I love having a big table for family gatherings & special occasions!
Our centerpiece is simple this year, I used pumpkins from the dollar store that I painted & leaves I bought from Michaels. I wanted to do a little different color scheme than normal this year. I am really feeling the dark blues & buffalo check!
The napkins & tablecloth I made from the leftover fabric I had from the DIY Bench & Chair Cushion project! The chargers I purchased from the dollar store along with the glass pumpkins! I painted all the pumpkins white so that they will go with every year’s color scheme.
I followed the same color scheme in the living room. I added a bunch of fun florals & pumpkins.
I am swooning over the mantle this year! I love that I was able to incorporate a chalkboard fall banner.
I like to add water to the vases even for fake flowers, I think it makes them look more real.
I was able to include these target dollar section cloth pumpkins into the mix too!
Truth be told our fireplace is gas… But I really like the look of the real logs, it makes the whole scene feel very cozy. Plus when I found that basket at TJ Maxx, it was screaming “take me home & use me for firewood!” The whole thing was very awkward, but the basket won & I brought it home!
I am never without at least one supervisor watching my every move & laying on my newly fluffed pillows!
I hope yall enjoyed part 1 of our fall home tour! For more fall decor fun check out part 2! Also be sure to head over to the free fall printables page to get started on your own fall decor! What color scheme did yall choose to “fallify” your homes with this year?!
