Room Renovation: Office Week 4
Update! Week1/ Week2/Week3/Week4/Week5/Week6 Reveal!
Week 4 of project room renovation is complete! With only two weeks to go until the big reveal, I am feeling the pressure! Last week we finished the biggest part of the project, built-in bookcases & window seat. If you missed it you can check it all out here! Plus here’s a little reminder photo because Y’all I’m in love! ~This post may contain affiliate links, take a peek at our privacy & disclosure policy~
This week we got a good bit done!
- File cabinet redo, check! This was definitely one of my favorite projects this week! I bought this file cabinet for $20 at a garage sale & completely transformed it with a little spray paint TLC! You can check this whole transformation out here!
- Next, I completed the whiteboard frame project! This awesome frame came from Hobby Lobby’s clearance section for $15, score! I may have happy danced right there in the aisle, sorry not sorry. It is really heavy duty & just needed a little spray paint to brighten it up!
I used Krylon’s Blush Pink Gloss spray paint to brighten this baby up! Then, I glued on the whiteboard (here’s a similar one). Once again I used THIS multi-purpose floor adhesive. I know that’s not technically what it’s for, but I also used this adhesive to glue my DIY Bathroom Mirror Framing Project & it’s still holding strong!
I had to add strips of cardboard on the back, between the whiteboard & frame because the whiteboard was a hair smaller than the frame. You want a snug fit to ensure it won’t move later. Finally, the adhesive was dry & now all I have to do is hang the frame up! I am so happy with this DIY whiteboard!
- The last project I finished was my DIY wrapping cart! All I had to do for this one was buy my cart, stick on some vinyl, & add cute storage boxes. I purchased 2 of those boxes from IKEA & just wrapped ones I already had in black wrapping paper to match! I originally saw this idea on Melissa’s (from Polished Habitat) ORC post & thought it was super clever! I love that the cart can roll around, because I like to do my main Christmas wrapping cozy by the fire, watching Christmas movies!
- The desk that was “sponsored” by my mom (early birthday present, lucky me!!!) came in!
Heres the To Do List so far:
Built-in bookcases & bench around the windows
New light fixture
Paint file cabinet (ill show you this in week 4!)
DIY canvas art
Repurpose old trunk into storage (in progress)
Closet shelving/organization (Wire shelving has been removed)
Paint the walls
Command center with calendar/whiteboard/file holder etc
Reupholster hot pink chair seat
DIY dry erase board & frame
Bench cushion (the fabric is in!)
Trim window
That’s it for week 4, I hope yall have an amazing week! I still have a lot of work to do so it will be another busy week at the Southern Yankee DIY house! Leave a note with any comments, questions, or your own DIY office projects below!

The cart looks great! So glad you were able to use the idea for your office!
Thanks, Melissa! I really love the way it turned out! It was a great idea, thanks for sharing it!
