$100 Room Challenge: Linen Closet Makeover Week 1

$100 Room Challenge: Linen Closet Makeover Week 1

Welcome yall to our first $100 Room Challenge! If you have followed along this little blog for anytime at all you know we love a good room renovation challenge over here at the Southern Yankee DIY house. So when I heard about Erin’s $100 Room Challenge I was super excited!

Erin from Lemons, Lavender, & Laundry started this challenge a couple of years ago (you can read more about that here). Basically a bunch of very talented bloggers get together to take on renovating a space for $100 or less! We have 1 month to complete the challenge & the hope is to have a swoon worthy room at the end, all while staying in budget.

The linen closet is on my 2020 project list already so its the perfect place to start! My inspiration came from this beautiful closet from Sincerely, Marie.

2020 projects, projects, renovations, remodels, pantry, linen closet, craft room closet storage, storage, accent walls, wrapping paper organization, kids bathroom, bathroom remodel, remodel inspiration, organized living, $100 room makeover, $100 makeover challenge

Her linen closet makeover is so pretty & organized! I am hoping to accomplish the same organized look in our disaster of a closet!

Here is what we are working with:

Yes it is a disaster & I should be embarresed to show yall but I’m not because this is real life. I wanted to take on this little closet as part of my January deep clean project anyways, so this is perfect timing!

The Plan:

  • Paint the closet- I’m thinking about using Sherwin Williams Pure White to give the space a bright & clean look, plus I have some left over from another project so I mine as well use what I got
  • Add custom shelving- I am going to add some shelving similar to what I added during my coat closet makeover
  • Find budget savvy storage containers & bins for all the linens- This is probably where the majority of my budget will be spent
  • Add custom labels to my storage bins- I recently got a Cricut for my birthday so if it can be labeled it will be labeled because I am obsessed

So that’s the plan! Now all that’s left is to complete the project by the end of January under a $100 budget… no sweat! Nothing like a little extra pressure to help you get motivated to complete a project!

    1. Thanks Erin! I am so excited to be joining yall this time! Your $100 room makeovers are always so beautiful!

    1. I will be so relived when I can at least walk into the linen closet without falling over & getting sucked into the mess.

  1. I’m excited to see the end result! Your inspiration picture is a great one to use. All those bins and baskets can definitely add up so I’m curious to see what you do. I’ve seen people upcycle diaper boxes by wrapping them with jute/rope and then covering the inside with fabric to look like fancy baskets. Good luck!

    1. Thanks Angela, you are absolutely right, figuring out budget savvy storage will be the tricky part! Hopefully I can pull it off!

Tell me something!
